Great for smaller garden and good in containers:
very free flowering, compact and tough.
Repens hybrids (REP) bred from the red R. forrestii, waxy red flowers.
The species R. williamsianum has bell-shaped pink flowers and oval leaves, bronzy when young. Both characters can be seen clearly in the hybrids (marked ‘WIL’). Yak Hybrids (‘YAK’) H4-5 Size 1-1.5m in 10-15 years. Raised from the Japanese species R. yakushimanum.
Many different colours, now very popular. Habit compact. Many have fine foliage with indumentum on the leaves. Most flower in late May and early June so avoiding spring frosts.
